Affairs of Syria</head>Polybius tells us in his thirty-third Book that Demetrius, who escaped from <a class="linkToPlace" target="_blank" href="/place?placename=Rome&groupId=935&placeId=1669">Rome</a> when he was a hostage, and became king of <a class="linkToPlace" target="_blank" href="/place?placename=Syria&groupId=995&placeId=502">Syria</a>, was much given to drink and was tipsy for the greater part of the day.
