And first Dionysodorus, the envoy of Attalus, took up the discourse by declaring that "Philip ought to restore the king's ships which had been captured in the battle at <a class="linkToPlace" target="_blank" href="/place?placename=Chios&groupId=462&placeId=863">Chios</a> and their crews with them; and to restore also the temple of Aphrodite to its original state, as well as the Nicephorium, both of which he had destroyed."<note anchored="yes" place="marg" id="note6">of the Rhodians,</note>He was followed by the Rhodian navarch Acesimbrotus, who demanded "That Philip should evacuate Peraea, which he had taken from them; withdraw his garrisons from <a class="linkToPlace" target="_blank" href="/place?placename=Iasus&groupId=643&placeId=1177">Iasus</a>, Bargylia, and Euromus; restore the Perinthians to their political union with <a class="linkToPlace" target="_blank" href="/place?placename=Byzantium&groupId=415&placeId=767">Byzantium</a>; and evacuate <a class="linkToPlace" target="_blank" href="/place?placename=Sestos&groupId=969&placeId=1717">Sestos</a>, Abydos, and all commercial ports and harbours in Asia."<note anchored="yes" place="marg" id="note7">of the Achaeans.</note>Following the Rhodians the Achaeans demanded "The restoration of <a class="linkToPlace" target="_blank" href="/place?placename=Corinth&groupId=493&placeId=928">Corinth</a> and <a class="linkToPlace" target="_blank" href="/place?placename=Argos&groupId=361&placeId=689">Argos</a> uninjuired."<note anchored="yes" place="marg" id="note8">and of the Aetolians.</note>Then came the Aetolians, who first demanded, like the Romans, that "Philip should entirely evacuate Greece; and, secondly, that he should restore to them uninjured all cities formerly members of the Aetolian league."<pb n="205" />
