Abstract: "1. In B.J. 2,161 two tests for Jewish girls are meant: the three-year probation which was required also of men and the fertility test consisting of at least three menstruations. 2. In A.J. 18,38 Tiberias is said to be an undesirable place to live in for Jews because it was built on the site of tombs, wich made settlers unclean for seven days. This provision ist not in the Bible, but it may be deduced from the Mishna tractate Ohaloth, where the power of a shadow to carry impurity is stated: even "touching" an invisible grave with one's shadow would have that effect". - P.W.
