Abstract: "The slightly revised version of a doctoral dissertation directed by H.-J. Klauck and accepted in 1989 by the Catholic Theological Faculty at Würzburg, this volume first discusses parables from the perspective of narrative theory and in relation to metaphor. Next it investigates the phenomenon of monologue in the special Lukan parables, examining the technique in ancient novels and comedies, using Lk 12, 17-19 as an example, and considering the Lukan setting in life. Then it analyzes metaphor, narrative structure, and dramatic presentation in varoius Lukan parables: the loan and the two debtors (7:41-43), the friend with the request (11:5-8), the rich fool (12:16-21), the fuitless fig tree (13:6-9), building the tower and carrying out the battle (14:28-32), the lost drachma (15:8-10), the lost son (15:11-32), the unjust ruler (16:1-8), the rich man and the poor Lazarus (16:19-31), the servant's duty (17:7-10), the judge and the widow (18:1-8), and the Pharisee and the tax-collector (18:9-14)".
