| Title: The Law and the Angels. Antiquities 15:136 and Galatians 3:19 Secondary Title: CTJ Volume: 24 Pages: 223-240 Type: Journal Article Year: 1989 Abstract: "The term angeloi in Josephus' Ant. Iud. 15:136 refers to angels but their function is not the giving of the Law on Sinai. Rather they are God's representatives who, prior to the giving of the Law or under special circumstances, taught people the essentials of the Law - namely, God's retributive justice in rewarding good and punishing evil. Although Ant. 15:136 provides important background for Gal. 3:19, it does not represent direct evidence for the tradition that the Law was ordained by angels at Sinai. - C.R.M."
