"Aristobulus did not reintroduce Judaism to a paganized Galilee, but imposed on the Jews of Galilee the interoperation of the Torah characteristic of Judah. // Harrington, Daniel J.: The phrase kata touj 'Ioudai/wn no/mouj zhn in Josephus' description of Aristobulus I's efforts in Galilee in 103 B.C. (Ant. 13:318) is usually translated ""to live according to the laws of the Jews"" and cited as evidence for a program of re-judaizing Galilee. But the alternative translation ""according to the laws of the Judeans"" more accurately reflects the late 2nd-century B.C. cultural situation.
