| Title: La condena inopinada de Jesús. II. La agresividad obtusa de Pilato y la política ignorada de Caifás Secondary Title: EstB Volume: 49 Pages: 49-96 Type: Journal Article Year: 1991 Abstract: "Careful examination of the sources (Philo and Josephus) indicates that Pilate's anti-Jewish aggressiveness was due to the circumstances of his appointment and his incompetence, not to Sejanus or to his own temperament. The same sources and the NT reveal that Caiaphas' apparent passivity before Pilate concealed a very effective strategy to restrain Pilate's abuses. Rather than being dismissed with Pilate, Caiaphas resigned from his post and eventually embraced the Christian faith". - D.J.H. Keywords: New Testament / Early Christianity |
