Abstract: A lot of writers of the Syriac traditions from the 8th to the 12th centuries seemed to know about the testimony of Josephus, particularly his passages about the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple. Till the late 12th century, earlier authors knew about his texts through intermediate sources such as the Chronicle and Ecclesiastical History of Eusebius as well as through the Syriac translation of the Wars. Michael the Great seemed to be the first one who read the Antiquities in Greek. Since the emergence of the Chronology of Ps-Dionysius in the 8th century, the Syriac tradition had identified Josephus with the high priest Caiaphas.
