| Title: Die Adressaten des Weisheitsbuches Secondary Title: Biblica Volume: 82.2 Pages: 153-177 Type: Journal Article Year: 2001 Abstract: This article examines the views of different scholars regarding the addresses of the Book of Wisdom and argues that neither the pagans nor the Jews were the recipients of the book. The book's instruction to the kings and rulers points to a literary model in ancient Jewish texts from the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD, as is confirmed by the similar styles in the works of Philo and Josephus. The themes of conversion and changing one's approach show that the texts addressed to all well-off pagans who had an interest in Jewish traditions.
