Abstract: The article examines the debate about the Jewish involvement in the trial of Jesus as was recorded in the Gospels and other ancient Jewish sources. Then, it looks at Jesus' debates with the Pharisees and his non-Pharisaic teachings. Despite of the conflicts between the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem and Jesus, their disputes do not explain the terrible situation of his crucifixion.
