Abstract: "A detailed analysis of chronomessianic lore from Jeremiah through the late talmudic tradition shows that the sabbatical calendar was probably a factor in the timing of the following messianic movements: the commencement of John the Baptist's ministry; the ascribed date of Jesus' birth; Agabus (Acts II, 27-30 and XII,25); the prophet of Egypt (Josephus, A.J. XX,167 ff.): and Bar Kochba's uprising against Rome in 132-135 A.D."
