Abstract: "Matthews, Christopher R. in: NTAb 43,3 (1999) 549: The article investigates the apologetic construction of the description of Josephus that emerges from a comparison between his Life and Jewish War with respect to the moderate ""between phase"" after the defeat of Cestius (see Life 28-29) and Josephus' convert pro-Roman Galilean politics. It focuses particularly on Life 64-69 in determining the basis for Josephus' political attitude at the beginning of the Jewish war and during his insertion in Galilee. It concludes with remarks on Josephus' stylizing of the events as political antagonism between radicals and moderates where his apologetic strategy permitted and required this."
