Abstract: Harrington, Daniel J. in: NTAb 43.1 (1999), 116: "This comparison of the biblical accounts of David's capture of Jebus/Jerusalem and its sequels (2 Sam 5:6-16; 1 Chron 11:4-9 + 14:1-7; and 3:5-9) with Josephus' narrative in Antiquities 7:60b-70 is divided into three segments: Jerusalem seized, David's building measures, and David's later family. Through his various rewriting techniques, Josephus clarified and explicated matters left unaddressed by the biblical texts, integrated the "Jebus episode" into the wider flow of his narrative, and accentuated the stature and initiative of David in the proceedings. He deliberately sent "mixed signals" to his double audience, i.e. cultivated Greco-Roman readers and fellow Jews".
