In connection with the final history of Judah, there is no reason to assume that Josephus could have used some source other than the Old Testament at his disposal. In some cases there is evidence that he must have used the Septuagint text (or its Vorlage), and in other cases his reconstruction seems to be based on the Masoretic text."
