Josephus is closer to II Reg than to Jes, but also includes details found only in Jes. There are various indications of his familiarity with readings peculiar to the LXX versions of these books. Josephus somewhat reduces the role of Jes, but stresses the veracity of his prophecies. Josephus' reworking of his material seems to be intended to please both his Gentile and his Jewish readership".
