Abstract: "This introduction to Jewish history, literature, and theology in the Greco-Roman period first treats the Hellenistic age: the spread of Hellenism, Jewish reactions to Hellenism, apocalyptic, the theology of Palestinian Judaism (reflection ad practice), Qumran, and additional Jewish literature of the Hellenistic period. Then it deals with the Roman period: the coming of Roman rule to Palestine, the period from Herod the Great to the Bar Kokhba revolt (37 B.C. to A.D. 135), Palestinian Jewish theology and literature to the Bar Kokhba revolt, and some Jewish literature of presumed Diaspora origin written before A.D. 135.
