| Title: Judah the Essene and the Teacher of Righteousness Secondary Title: Revue de Qumran Volume: 10 Pages: 579-585 Type: Journal Article Year: 1981 Abstract: "To sum up: the evidence of Josephus proves only that Essenes could frequent the Temple in 103 B.C. It does not prove what sort of Essenes they were. It proves Carmignacs conclusions only within the framework of assumptions whose truth he does not demonstrate and which in my opinion, cannot be demonstrated. Finally, the evidence of Josephus does not refute the hypothesis that Jonathan was the Wicked Priest because it is compatible with that hypothesis".
