Abstract: Hieke, Thomas in: OTA 21.3 (1998), 512: "Josephus' paraphrase of the OT in Ant. 1-13 is a very early form of OT reception. Obviously he made a selection from various Hebrew and Greek texts. He omits parts of the biblical text, changes passages, and rewrites them. In addition he writes in Greek, while the original was written in Hebrew. Both these aspects of Josephus' reception (rewriting and translation) must be taken into consideration. M. also points out that Josephus draws on special sources, which are sometimes no longer extant. For text-critical questions the writings of Josephus are especially interesting in those cases where he confirms a disputed Hebrew reading". Harrington, Daniel J. in: NTAb 43.1 (1999), 123: "Josephus' paraphrase of the OT in Antiquities 1-13 represents an early form of the reception of the biblical text. It is important fort the history of both the Greek Bible and the Hebrew text".
