Abstract: "B. encourages OT and NT scholars of all faiths to read intertestamental texts themselves rather than just secondary sources concerning these texts. To this end B. provides an overview and bibliography of intertestamental history, religion, religious institutions, and literature. He divides intertestamental texts into seven categories: apocrypha, pseudepigrapha, the Dead Sea Scrolls, Bible translations, Philo, Josephus, and rabbinical literature. Intertestamental study is significant because it concerns religious literature of value, containing the earliest interpretations of the OT, and serving as background for reading the NT". - Chris Franke
