Abstract: IZGB 41 (1995/1996), 351: "When we analyze rabbinic stories of pre-70 CE sectarianism as history we find that the literary aspects of these tales predomiate. Much conforms to set patterns of story-telling. Nevertheless, when we compare these stories with information from other sources (esp. Josephus), these stories often can be seen in a different light. Baumgarten discusses one rabbinic text at length: bQiddushin 66 a, the acccount of the banquet held by King Yannai. Reference is also made to the story of Antogonus of Socho and his students. Zadok and Boethus in Abot de R. Natan, chap. 5."
